The public register enables consumers to search the details of drivers and driving instructors, determine if a vehicle is currently registered as a commercial passenger vehicle, and view details about Booking Service Providers.
This improves industry accountability and regulatory transparency.
Note: Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria does not publish the business or personal contact details of drivers.
Application to restrict public access
You have a right to apply to us to restrict public access to information relating to you that is on the register. We may only grant an application to restrict public access to information if there are exceptional circumstances that justify the restriction (see Information displayed on the Public Register).

What can you search for?
You can view the accreditation status of drivers and the authorisation status of driving instructors.
The accreditation status of unbooked (taxi) drivers can be checked using the six-digit driver number displayed on the driver's ID card. The public register displays the status of the driver ('current' or 'not current') and the type of endorsements he or she may have, including the type of vehicles the driver is authorised to drive.
Reasons why the status of a driver might be 'not current' include that his or her accreditation is expired, cancelled, suspended or surrendered. In these circumstances, the passenger can report the driver as 'unauthorised' to us by email or phone.
Information on how to read the results for drivers and driving instructors can be viewed here.
You can determine if a vehicle is currently registered as a commercial passenger vehicle by referring to our public register spreadsheet listing currently registered commercial passenger vehicles. The public register includes vehicle registration numbers of currently registered commercial passenger vehicles.
The vehicle registration numbers in the spreadsheet are updated daily, except on weekends and public holidays.
Booking Service Providers
You can check if a Booking Service Provider is registered and view their email address, if available.
The public register has a link to a spreadsheet that lists currently registered Booking Service Providers. Please note, not all Booking Service Providers are required to be registered and therefore may not appear on this register.
