Sydney Road leads $780,000 taxi rank safety blitz

Two new taxi ranks will be built on Sydney Road in Brunswick and another upgraded nearby thanks to more than $100,000 in Victorian Government funding, announced today by Minister for Public Transport Terry Mulder.

"The Coalition Government is boosting taxi rank safety by providing $786,000 to 11 councils across Victoria," Mr Mulder said.

Mr Mulder said the new facilities would help improve community safety.

The new ranks will be located between Brunswick Road and Glenlyon Road, servicing the many late-night venues along the popular Sydney Road strip.

New late night taxi ranks boost Chapel Street safety

Safety around one of Melbourne's most popular entertainment areas has received a massive boost with the installation of 18 new late night taxi ranks throughout the Chapel Street precinct. Launching the new ranks with Stonnington Mayor Cr John Chandler today, Minister for Public Transport Terry Mulder said the new ranks made catching a taxi safer and more convenient.

New annual licensing fee payment options for licence owners

The Victorian Taxi Directorate has made it easier for licence owners to pay their annual licensing fees. Licensing fees can now be paid online, by mail, over the phone or in person at any post office.
